America First Educator, Conservative Constitutionalist, Mother, Wife of a Texas State Trooper and National Guardsman. Just what District 40 needs in Austin.
The Rio Grande Valley is changing. Voters across Hidalgo County are asking themselves, "Why am I Democrat when they continually vote against my values, ignore an unprecedented crisis at our Southern Border, and refuse to follow the law and protect my family and my community? For too long, District 40 has been represented by out of touch Democrats who follow a woke agenda, support growing government, and refuse to grant expanded educational opportunities that would allow our children to live the American Dream. Let's unleash free enterprise, support school choice, and push back on liberal extremism in the Rio Grande Valley by supporting a Republican to represent us in Austin. Let's choose Vangela Churchill to represent Hidalgo County!

With nearly 30 years in public education, Churchill has spent her career working side-by-side with students, parents, and families who are striving to build better lives. From the classroom to campus leadership, she has seen firsthand the challenges many children carry with them to school such as hunger, unmet medical needs, and instability at home and the critical role strong schools play in helping families move forward.
Churchill is a committed advocate not only for children and families, but also for the teachers, support staff, and campus employees who serve them every day. She understands that educators, aides, bus drivers, custodians, and office staff are the backbone of our school system and too often go unrecognized despite the growing demands placed on them. As classrooms become more crowded and resources are stretched, these professionals are asked to do more than ever before.
She believes strong schools build strong communities. After nearly three decades on the front lines of education, Churchill is running to ensure that students receive the support they need, families have a voice, and teachers and staff are respected, equipped, and empowered to do their jobs well. Her focus is simple: strengthen our schools, support our communities, and create real opportunities for the next generation.
Vangela Churchill came to the Rio Grande Valley as a young girl and was raised in Port Isabel, later spending most of her life in Sullivan City and La Joya. She also lived in Monterrey, Mexico, for four years, where she became fluent in Spanish and developed a deep appreciation for the culture and people of the border region she now proudly calls home in Edinburg.
Vangela is one of the first in her family to graduate from college. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas–Pan American in 2003, a Master of Fine Arts from National University in 2011, where she authored a book of Chicano poetry, and a Master of Education with a focus on Administration and Special Education from St. Thomas University in 2016. Committed to lifelong learning, she later returned to school and is a few classes away from a second bachelor’s degree in business administration from Purdue Global in 2020. She is certified as a teacher TEA designated teacher and principal in the State of Texas.
For nearly 30 years, Vangela has served students and families across the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas as a teacher, professor, and campus leader. She currently teaches at the high school level and sponsors her campus chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Throughout her career, she has been a strong advocate for students, families, teachers, and school staff, believing that strong schools are the foundation of strong communities.
Vangela is the proud mother of four children and grandmother of three. She is married to a Texas State Trooper who also serves in the National Guard. They live in Edinburg and attend New Life Family Church in McAllen, where faith, family, and service remain central to their lives.
